My wife and I flew to Manhattan recently for a weekend getaway. We had an amazing time seeing the sites and shopping. I got to hit up the iconic Midtown Comics where I scored a few back issues I was missing — I’m now a few steps closer to completing the Street Fighter Unlimited Ultimate Jam Cover by The Chamba. We had an amazing date night meal at Gramercy Farmer and the Fish and caught a showing of The Book of Mormon. It was an awesome time and I can’t wait to go back someday.
Crazy as it sounds, one of my favorite parts of the trip was the plane ride itself. I’m fully aware that tablets, laptops and iPads have been around for a while, but this was the first time I have ever had the chance to digitally draw on a plane. For the first time in ages I felt like I truly lived in the future. My high school self would never believe that in just twenty years (OMG I’m old) I’d be drawing on a computer on a plane. Crazy talk!
Anyhow, here’s the drawing I did on the plane. It’s just a little fan art of Allen the Alien from my favorite comic – Invincible by Robert Kirkman and one of my all-time favorite artists, Ryan Ottley.
